You could feel the enthusiasm from the runners as they crossed the finish line on Sunday morning in Prospect Park.  Every single runner was there to raise money and awareness for one of the 11 charities represented at the inaugural Generosity Brooklyn event.  “It doesn’t matter that it’s cold outside, the fact that it’s for a good cause made it all worth it today!  It was so much fun!”  Tamika Mighty said, as she was watching the Brooklynettes perform their post race dance finale.  Tamika was representing the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation with eight other runners.  Among the other charities represented were Coney Island Recovers, Brooklyn Autism Center, Wounded Warrior Project and Team Red White and Blue.

To kick off the festivities, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and State Senator Eric Adams spun the wheel of generosity.  The wheel featured the 11 charities, and whichever charity the wheel landed on was awarded an additional contribution.  The Brooklynettes lead the runners in a professional prerace warm up and were on hand at the finish line to cheer them all on.

Runners were awarded bronze, silver and gold medals in 7 different age categories.  The top three individuals who raised the most money for their charities were also recognized.  Daniela Mendelsohn, running for ArtWorks, was the top participant raising over $3,300.00 for the charity!  Brooklyn Autisim Center and Coney Island Recovers were also recognized for their outstanding efforts.  Together, all of the runners raised tens of thousands of dollars for their charities!
